Diabetes management is largely a question of how carbohydrate is spread across a day rather than how much is banned from the house. Two people can eat the same total in a day and see very different readings depending on portion, pairing, sequence and timing.

This consultation begins with your HbA1c and fasting and post-meal sugars, your medication or insulin schedule, and a full picture of your working day. We then structure meals so that carbohydrate arrives in amounts your body and your treatment can handle, paired with protein and fibre, at times that fit around your medication rather than fighting it.

Pre-diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and gestational diabetes are each planned differently. Where you are on insulin or a sulfonylurea, hypoglycaemia risk shapes the plan directly — meal spacing and carbohydrate at each meal are set with that in mind, and any change is made in step with your treating doctor.

—How it works

From the first form to a plan that keeps up with you

Six stages. The last two repeat for as long as you work together — that loop is the point.

  1. 01Before the first call

    Assess

Pick a time and fill in the new-patient assessment — your details, health history, medication and what you want to change. A few minutes now means the consultation starts with the real picture.

  2. 02The consultation

    Understand

We go through your history, your routine and any blood work from the last six months together, and agree what to work on first. Nothing is planned around a number you have not seen.

  3. 03Plan, version 1

    Plan

A plan built from the food you already cook — every slot of every day, in household portions, with calories and macros calculated from the ingredients rather than estimated.

  4. 04Every day

    Live

Your plan arrives in the practice's app. Sign in with your phone number and the access code you're given, check meals off with a live photo, and log your weight and measurements.

  5. 05Between reviews↻ repeats

    Measure

Weight, measurements, adherence and any new blood reports gather in one record — the same record you and your nutritionist both see.

  6. 06Version 2, 3, …↻ repeats

    Adapt

At each follow-up the plan is revised against what the record actually shows. Earlier versions are kept, so progress is a history rather than a rewrite.

Included: the practice’s nutrition app

Your plan for this programme lives in the practice’s own app — today’s meals in household portions, a live-camera check-off so your nutritionist sees the real plate, your weight and measurement trends, and your blood markers charted against their normal ranges. It opens in the browser on any phone or laptop, and it is included in the programme fee.

Questions about diabetes diet consultation

Will I be told to stop eating rice?

No. Rice is planned in a measured portion, paired and timed so it fits your readings. A plan that removes a staple you eat daily is a plan you will stop following.

Can nutrition reverse my diabetes?

That is not a claim this practice makes. Sustained nutrition and weight change can meaningfully improve markers for some people, and your doctor may adjust treatment on the basis of your reports — but that is their decision, and outcomes differ from person to person.

I take insulin. Is this consultation still appropriate?

Yes, and the plan is built with hypoglycaemia risk in mind — meal spacing and carbohydrate per meal are set accordingly. Insulin dose remains entirely your doctor's decision.

Questions about booking, fees, follow-ups or the app are answered in the practice FAQ.

Nutrition support complements your medical treatment — it does not replace your doctor's advice, diagnosis or prescribed medication. Nothing on this page is a diagnosis or a promise of a particular result.
